The Trout

It was a hot sunny day when and I decided to go on my first trout fishing adventure; Del was already a fishing pro. We took his much loved fishing boat out to the reservoir. This was my first time to really "fish." So, I was very excited when I snagged my limit, five beautiful rainbow colored trout within a couple of hours.
Del , my fisherman boyfriend, hooked only one trout. I really felt for him, but it was also kind of entertaining to tease him about what a great fisherman he is, and, yet, he only ensnared one scrubby fish!
The master fisherman quickly checked the line for the fish, they all, except one, were swallowed up into the great blue abyss. I couldn't help but feel sorry for the five fish that had their guts ripped out on the hair raising boat ride.
On the other hand, the surviving trout had earned my up most respect. He was the lone survivor of the bloody, bumpy boat ride. He would live on forever in my thoughts and dreams. The "first" real catch of my trout fishing experience.
Let's not forget that he also sacrificed himself, that very night, to my grill with great delight.
P.S. Trout, Steelhead, and Salmon taste so yummy when they are cooked on a Traeger Pellet Grill.

Rhonda-What a great story? I am sure the lone fish tasted great! Have you been back out since then? thanks for sharing the story! Thanks! Yes, the next time I went out was on Clear Lake, practicing my fly fishing with yarn! I then stepped up to the next level with the real thing and hooked myself twice! Definitely very humbling!
HA! I love to fish but have not had the chance while raising the kids. I guess fishing makes it all worthwhile, the blood, the cleaning, the hooks and the bumpy ride when we are sitting at the table and enjoying the free meal! Thanks!Definitely worthwhile if your hubby does the cleaning! :) I can't even stand to put a worm on a hook! :)
Great article. Well done. What a lucky woman you are - five fish you say. Thats better than some people who do it every weekend get.Yes, luck it was...Hopefully, I'll get better with my fly fishing, hook a fish and not myself!
Ewwwww, Rhonda, your words definitely painted a picture! It looks like you had a great time, all things considered, on your adventure! Welcome to SearchWarp!
